About Us

Welcome to Transformers3D, dedicated to Transformers in alternative media!

We started this group because there are an appreciable number of Transformers fanartists out there doing amazing things with alternative media, but we/they tend to be hard to find; we thought it might help spread the word if we made a central gathering place, so to speak.

When we say "3D" we're not talking about 3D digital art; we're talking about solid real-life objects. Media we look for includes (but is not limited to) needlecraft and textile art of all kinds (plushes, crochet, knitting, quilting, weaving, felting, etc.), beadwork (including jewelry), metal, glass, wood, food, leather, sculpture, repaints, kitbashes, cosplay...

There are a few rules, just to keep everything from descending into total chaos and to keep Transformers 3D a place of interest for all Transfans, so please take a minute to read:

1. Be civil. No one is required to leave nothing but "OMG awesome!!!" comments, but please, keep it civil. Also, keep in mind that not everyone is interested in concrit; unless the art has the "Critique Requested" feature activated, or the artist requests it in the comments, please refrain.

2. We'd like to keep this place gen-oriented - this means no romance or relationship-oriented art, either slash or het.

Granted, the sorts of art we're looking for here don't necessarily lend themselves very well to such things, but I'm sure we're all aware of just how much a large portion of this fandom loves its ships. ;)

Mainly, though, there are simply many fans who are not in any way interested in TF relationships, and we'd prefer to welcome all Transfans.

3. On a similar note, only canon characters are permitted in this group. Please save the OCs for your personal page.

4. The Group Gallery is for members' work only; non-members should be submitted to the Group Favorites. If you stumble across a TF alt-media artist who doesn't belong to the group, please let one of the mods know who it is and we'll see about sending them an invite.

5. All art added to the Group Gallery must be original art, made by the submitter (see rules 8 & 9 below as regards paper-formers and toy mods).

6. Non-members work submitted to the Group Favorites folder must, again, be original art made by the original uploader.

7. Re. upload limits: Members may add no more than five (5) total deviations per day (that's per member per day); and no more than three (3) different views of the same piece of art.

8. Re. papercrafts - such as these: transformers3d.deviantart.com/…

You may only add these to the gallery if you are the template's original designer (as with the example linked above). If you simply download a template and assemble it, sorry, it does not qualify as original art made by you.

In addition, your upload must be a photo of the actual assembled paperformer, not the template itself.

9. Re. photos of toys: these are only permitted if they are mods/repaints/kitbashes. Please refrain from posting photos of toys that haven't been obviously modified; again, toys as they come out of the package do not qualify as art made by you.

Once again, welcome to the group and thanks for joining us!
